At first glance, one can’t help but admire the elegant French Renaissance style architecture of the 10-story Georgian Terrace hotel. Considered one of the southeast’s first-class hotels, this building is well known for hosting the gala reception for the premiere of “Gone with the Wind” in December of 1939. Guests are treated to other notable historical stories upon checking in. Thankfully, this magnificent historical gem managed to escape the wrecking ball due to local preservationist protests. With a $10 million renovation project complete, the Georgian Terrace is in a class of its own.
